April Adventures

Here is my random photo dump from the month of April.
One of the activities we did during conference was legos. Meili made this person speaking at the podium herself and I loved it. I don't know if she paid attention to a single word, but she at least knew what we were doing.

Like father like son. Melts my heart!
This was one of the activities at the Aggie Football Spring Scrimmage.
Shasta and Meili went first... and struggled.
Then Grant and Shelby wanted a turn and could hardly lift the jousts. I don't think this is how this game was intended.

 Cam enjoying berries.

Meili had a school field trip to the Willow Park zoo. I've loved hearing about the friends she's made this year. This is Kinzley, Meili, and McKenna.
 Such a cute, happy boy!

And on this particular day, he was looking especially sweet, so I couldn't limit my picture taking, or picture sharing.

In April, Grant had a big milestone. His entire life, to ride bikes, he didn't pedal, and would just scoot himself along with his legs. One night, we were going on a walk and tried to get him to use his bigger bike. He threw a massive toddler tantrum and refused. So Josh put his smaller bike away so it wouldn't tempt him. The next day, he got on his bigger bike, and took off. I can't count how many hours he has spent on that bike. For a few months, it was an all-out obsession. The bike is still a little big for him, so he went from falling frequently, to still falling occasionally. But he is a trooper, and gets right back on.

This is what happy looks like.

Grant's First Year Playing Soccer

Grant (and I) have been waiting and waiting until he got the opportunity to do SOMETHING. For years, he has waited patiently while we shuttled Meili from preschool, to gymnastics, from soccer to dance, from kindergarten to birthday parties. So it was finally Grant's turn... and he loved it... mostly :)
Soccer consisted of 45 minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the month of April. On Tuesdays, they did practice drills, and Thursdays played a game against another team.

Grant's favorite was crawling through the cardboard box. If he could, we would try to skip the rest of the drill, and just move right on to the cardboard box.

Because of work, I was only able to go to one of his games. And it was hilarious. Josh said most of the games were similar, but the one I went to was definitely the most extreme. As long as Grant had the ball, he was the happiest little boy. The second someone got it from him, he turned around, broke in to tears, and sulked all the way over to me. Then we talked him through it. Explained that's how the game works, and told him to go back out and try to get the ball again. Which worked really well, until someone took the ball from him again.

This was the best picture I got
of the sulking.

Here's his whole team with his infinitely patient coach, Anna.

And when Grant got his treat, certificate, and shark water bottle, all hurt feelings were forgotten!

Destination Bunco

Words cannot describe...
What would I do in my life without my once a month Bunco night where we don't play Bunco, and we tell ourselves (and husbands) that we will be home at a reasonable hour, but we (and they) know that we never will. Where we pretend that we are going to take it easy on the treats, because we're currently eating healthy, and then decide the second we get there that healthy eating is overrated. And the list of inside jokes that we tell newcomers to fill them in, grows infinitely longer. Where we all know each other's crazy and not only love each other in spite of it, but more because of it, and we've seen each other's best, worst, and mascara smeared, tear stained cheeks (both from laughter and tears.) Oh dear... What would I do in my life without all these beautiful women?
Lindsey, Lacey, Kaleena, Jamie, Sarah, Christy, Alisha, Hilary, Connie, Brynn (and Katie, Jenna, Kira-who weren't there at the time of the picture, and more that have moved on, but we still haven't forgotten)

Easter

My kids always get plenty of practice finding Easter eggs every year. On Friday, one of the women that I used to work with, did an Easter egg hunt at her house.

That night, we dyed Easter eggs at my parents' house. Saturday morning, my parents did their Easter egg hunt.

Going through Grant's Easter basket with him was pretty awesome. He was SO excited about EVERYTHING!!!

Then we headed on to Honeyville for a third Easter egg hunt in 24 hours.

These pictures are from Easter morning....

It looks like the kids weren't quite ready to wake up.
