October Shenanigans

The two boys with their favorite things...
If there is a box, Cam will find a way into it.
And here is Grant showing off his souvenir from Disneyland.

And now, for a funny story...
The Saturday for General Conference, the weather was nice in the evening and the fall colors were so beautiful that I told Josh we should take the kids for a walk. I was picturing Stokes Nature Trail. Short, easy, stroll with all three kids just before dinner.
Somehow Josh ended up driving up to the wind caves, and we forced our children up and down the mountain like drill sergeants before the sun went down. Needless to say, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Notice that Grant is wearing pajama pants that are a size too small. Meili is wearing glittery, slip-on shoes, and Cam is in Josh's arms. No hiking back-pack, no snacks, no time to stop and take a break.

So, most of the time, Grant was on Josh's shoulders, Cam was in my arms, and Meili was a trooper walking about five miles down and back.

The colors were beautiful, and even though we got questioning looks from many more responsible parents than us on the way up...
We made it just before dark.
We took our picture for proof, and basically ran back down the mountain, singing songs to distract Meili, and using the flashlight on my phone to light the path.  All-in-all, it was eventful, we created memories that I don't think the kids will soon forget, and Josh and I learned some important lessons about planning ahead and endurance.
